We the people must and can do better.
Headlines of web media, newspapers, newscasts, blogs and other eMedia scream. Government broken or inefficient or ineffective or all of the above. People angry and frustrated. Rich get richer; poor get poorer; middle class disappearing. Veterans not well served. Children poorly educated. People hungry. Health care too expensive and insufficiently effective. Political gridlock. Trust is low. Other countries are better; other countries are worse. Our future great; our future endangered; our future lost.
Is this our destiny? Have we lost control of our future? Have we lost the will and ability to build the future we need and want?
As human beings, we need to survive and we want to thrive. It is our nature.
We the people are at a tipping point today when our future is most endangered and we are most capable? Might, just might we still be able and willing to survive and, even better, thrive?
The answer is YES, but…. We need strong leadership from people in both public and private sectors. We need strong leadership from people generally.
We the people must once again take control of our future. We must change the course of the future. We must commit to a future that is not just about “me” but about “me and everyone else”. We must commit to a future that is more than just “today and literally tomorrow” but is “today, tomorrow and the many tomorrows yet to come.”
If and only if we are committed to “me and all of us”. If and only if we are committed to “today, the short term future and the long term future”. If and only if we are committed to survive and thrive. Then we the people will control our destiny. Then we the people will have the future we need and want. Then we the people will have the future this generation and all future generations so desperately want and need.
